What services do Evans Accountants offer?
How can Evans Accountants help my business succeed financially?
We go beyond basic compliance. As well as preparing your accounts and tax returns, we provide proactive advice to help improve profitability, manage cash flow and reduce tax liabilities legally and efficiently. With clear reporting and practical guidance, we help you understand your numbers so you can make confident business decisions.
Do you work with businesses outside your local area?
Yes. While we proudly support local businesses, we also work with clients across the UK and around the world. Using cloud accounting software and secure digital systems, we can manage your accounts remotely just as effectively as if you were based next door.
What is the process for switching from my current accountant?
Switching is straightforward. Once you appoint us, we contact your existing accountant to request professional clearance and transfer of records. We handle the transition smoothly and professionally, ensuring there is no disruption to your business or statutory obligations.
How much do your services cost?
What accounting software do you support?
We work with leading cloud accounting platforms including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Freeagent and other Making Tax Digital-compliant systems. If you are not yet using software, we can recommend and set up the most suitable system for your business and provide ongoing support.
How can I pay for your services?
We offer flexible payment options including bank transfer and monthly standing order. Many clients prefer spreading the cost through manageable monthly payments, helping with budgeting and cash flow.
How do I register my business for VAT and file VAT returns?
If your turnover exceeds the VAT threshold, or you choose to register voluntarily, we can handle the entire VAT registration process for you. We also prepare and submit VAT returns, ensure compliance with Making Tax Digital requirements, and advise on the most suitable VAT scheme for your business.
What is included in your payroll services?
Can you help with HMRC investigations?
What are year-end accounts and why are they important?
Year-end accounts summarise your business’s financial performance over a 12-month period. For limited companies, they must be filed with Companies House and HMRC. They provide a clear overview of profitability, financial position and tax liability, while also ensuring you remain compliant with statutory requirements.
What records do I need to provide for my self-assessment tax return?
You will need to provide details of all income received during the tax year, including employment income, self-employment income, rental income, dividends and interest. You should also provide records of allowable expenses, pension contributions, and any relevant tax reliefs. We will guide you on exactly what is required based on your individual circumstances.
How often should I update my management accounts?
For most businesses, monthly or quarterly management accounts provide valuable insight into performance, cash flow and profitability. Regular reporting allows you to identify trends, manage costs and make informed strategic decisions throughout the year rather than waiting until year-end.
How do you ensure the privacy and security of my financial data?
We use secure, encrypted systems and trusted cloud-based software to protect your data. All client information is handled in strict confidence and in accordance with GDPR regulations. Protecting your financial information is a top priority.
What happens if I miss a tax deadline?
Missing a deadline can result in penalties and interest charges from HMRC. If you believe you may have missed or are at risk of missing a deadline, contact us immediately. We can help minimise penalties where possible and put systems in place to ensure future deadlines are met on time.
